HUMAN SUSTAINABILITY IN EDUCATION

I help schools and districts design emotionally sustainable systems that integrate innovative instruction and educator well-being, creating psychologically safe, healing cultures that increase engagement and reduce attrition.

What is human sustainability in education?

Human sustainability in education is the practice of improving the well-being and professional lives of the people who make schools work. It means ensuring that those who support student learning leave their roles healthier, more connected, more skilled, and more fulfilled than when they began, as it should be in education. It requires a shift in thinking. Instead of asking how much more educators can give, we begin asking what support schools are offering to strengthen their people.

When schools commit to human sustainability, they see increased engagement, deeper instructional innovation, and better outcomes for students. Educators who feel respected and supported are more likely to stay, lead, and contribute meaningfully to a positive school culture. This is not just the right thing to do. It is a forward-looking strategy that strengthens education from the inside out.

Introducing the CORE Workplace Framework

You do not need another wellness initiative that checks a box.

The CORE Workplace Framework is a people-centered approach to building emotionally sustainable schools. It provides a lens for school and district leaders to reflect on how they are supporting staff in meaningful, long-lasting ways. CORE stands for Connection, Opportunity, Resilience, and Empowerment, four essential elements that help create cultures where educators feel valued, supported, and inspired to lead. Read the following short descriptions to get a feel for how the CORE workplace Framework operates in schools. The CORE Workplace Framework in education relies heavily on my District Self-Evaluation Guide for Assessing Educator Mental Health and Employee Sustainability work that you can read about here.

Educators are leaving not because they don’t care, but because the system often asks too much and gives too little.

If you're ready to change that narrative, schedule a complimentary strategy session. Together, we can explore how to create a school culture where people are supported to stay.
